Pediatric Physiotherapy Techniques for infant and young child

This mostly includes play activities that brings back the lost skills. It includes fetching ball or shopping at a proper height, drawing pictures on a large canvas, combining the exercises with limbs and touching objects with toes. These activities may be assisted with active music and there should be a wide range so that the child doesn’t get bored. These activities start from a young age and continue till child is an adolescent.

Pediatric Physiotherapy Techniques for Older child

Children who are 7 and above have awareness of their own bodies and matured enough to co-operate more actively in their pediatric physiotherapy treatment. They can easily carry out tasks explained to them. The therapist plans a number of short activities lasting 5 to 10 minutes and could allow time for play as a reward between or after therapeutic activities. Parents who are not present during pediatric physiotherapy treatment will be kept informed about their child’s treatment, his/her progress and any treatment that should be continued at home.

Some of equipments used are wheelchairs, standing boards and foam wedges, even body worn appliances like footwear, spinal braces, splints etc.
